Fifteen years after the publication of Push, one year after the Academy Award-winning film adaptation, Sapphire gives voice to Precious's son, Abdul.

"This is an emotionally intense story of a 64-year-old hand surgeon, Jennifer White, as she experiences the unyielding onslaught of dementia. On any given day she is lucid, catatonic, violent, or very, very sly. Does she feel any remorse for her less-than-stellar parenting of her two children? Did she kill her friend Amanda and amputate her fingers? LaPlante's exceptional skill with words puts readers inside this brilliant woman's mind so that we might experience her anger, frustration, and increasing confusion. This is a remarkable, heart-wrenching, and utterly compelling debut novel." -- Susan Wasson, Bookworks, Albuquerque, NM

More than twenty bestselling authors team up to create a first-rate serial novel -- producing a gripping, spellbinding mystery.  Alexander McCall Smith. Sandra Brown. Faye Kellerman. J.A. Jance. Jeffery Deaver. Kathy Reichs. Lisa Scottoline. Jeff Lindsay. These are only a handful of the names that make up the all-star lineup of authors behind No Rest for the Dead, a tale of vengeance, greed, and love that flows seamlessly, in the words of David Baldacci, "as it passes from one creator's mind to the next."

Mystery, magic, corruption, and betrayal abound (plus just enough laughs to take the edge off) for Olive, Morton and the new kid next door, Rutherford. You'll never guess what happens next in this thrilling, chilling second volume in the critically acclaimed series for kids 9-12.

rocks singAn amazing alphabet book created by photographing rocks found on the beach.  The artist/author collected all the rocks herself and with them depicts not only letters but also objects or scenes that represent each letter.  This book is utterly delightful to all ages. It stimulates the imagination and warms the heart.

Paperbacks

the passage

The hottest bestseller of last June is finally out in paperback!  Likened to Stephen King, Cronin delivers an epic that is part science-fiction and part horror.  A recommendation from our staff member Maria: "Yes, this is a big book and yes you should read it! The best thing about an 'epic' book is that you are pulled into the story and you get to remain there for a satisfyingly long time."

room

Emma Donohue's unique thriller is already available in paperback.  If you didn't take the plunge before, be sure to now.  "This one had me up all night.  The arc of the story is unusual, and the writing is concise all the way through.  it is a story of captivity, escape, and the aftermath. (To say more would ruin it!)  - Christine G., owner

tiny sunbirds

Set in rural Nigeria, "Tiny Sunbirds, Far Away" is the witty and beautifully written story of one family's attempt to survive a new life they could never have imagined, struggling to find a deeper sense of identity along the way.

grimm legacy

Elizabeth's new after-school job at a lending library of artifacts turns magical when she's introduced to the ground floor, and the Grimm Collection. "This is a great book for tween and teen fans of Harry Potter or The Sisters Grimm.  Shelman meets the yearning we have for hidden magic in our everyday lives." - Marianne A.

darklife2

"This book is about Ty, who helps his friend Gemma find her brother.  Houses underwater have collapsible walls, and to go swimming in the deep ocean you must fill your lungs with liquigen, a liquid oxygen.  There's also crew of outlaws called the Seablite Gang.  But everything is not what it seems." Paxson G.

Can we even wait until October?!?!  In The Lost Hero, three demigods named Jason, Piper, and Leo made their first visit to Camp Half-Blood, where they inherited a quest:

"Seven half-bloods shall answer the call, To storm or fire the world must fall. An oath to keep with a final breath, And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death."

Who are the other four mentioned in the prophesy? The answer may lie in another camp miles away, where a new camper has shown up and appears to be the son of Neptune, god of the sea. . .
