Please join the Newtown Bookshop as we welcome Bucks County's own, Lisa Mercado-Fernandez with her new novel "Holding On To Hope" on June 20th at 6:30pm at the Newtown Bookshop!  Lisa will be meeting with guests and signing books!   All are invited to join us!

With only a few weeks before Christmas, Nicholas Garrett is second-guessing everything he has ever done as he looks for someone to blame for his present situation.  Just two weeks ago he and his wife Hope were filled with excitement and joy awaiting the birth of their twins.  During the delivery, Hope’s blood pressure unexpectedly spikes and causes Hope to go into a seizure.  As the surgeons struggle to stabilize her and deliver the twins safely, Nick is removed from the operating room. Unable to help the woman he loves, Nick is desperate to understand why she is in a coma.

Unable to see his twins without his wife by his side he questions his faith.  Coming from a home that had an absent Jewish father whom he never knew and a struggling catholic mother, his brother is the only family that remains.

As Nick attempts to figure out what he believes in and find answers to his childhood, he fears that he will loose the love of his life and the mother of his children.

Pressed for time with a heartbreaking decision to make, Nick continues to hold on to hope.

Lisa Mercado-Fernandez is a teacher, writer and the author of The Shoebox, The Eighth Summer and her latest novel Holding On To Hope.  She writes about love, and loss and friendship in tales set in her favorite coastal sea towns and in her own home town.   Lisa lives in beautiful Newtown, PA with her family.

“I write about what touches me the most, whether it’s my own experiences or a creation in my mind. I stay true to my search for what is good and what really matters in life.”–Lisa
