June Monthly Poetry Group
Welcome Poets! Join us for an evening of poetry and discussion on Thu evening, June 9th at 6:00pm (lasts to 7:00pm). This month we're excited to have poet Bill Wunder as our guest reader at the Newtown Bookshop. Bill will read from his new book, Welcome to Paradise, New and Selected Poems. (Please bring a mask.)
Bill Wunder is a poet, editor and the author of four volumes of poetry. His newest is Welcome to Paradise, New and Selected Poems from WordTech Editions, Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a past Poet Laureate of Bucks County, Pennsylvania and a two-time nominee for the Pushcart Prize. His poems have appeared in The Manhattan Review, Paterson Literary Review, Comstock Review, Blueline, Innisfree Poetry Journal, Philadelphia Poets, Mad Poets Review, Revue LISA and many others. Bill is a Vietnam veteran and lives with his wife and two twin Labrador retrievers in the wilds of Bucks County, Pa.
Bill Wunder's fourth book, Welcome to Paradise, New and Selected Poems launched this April from WordTech Editions. Previous books are Pointing at the Moon (2008), Hands Turning the Earth (2014), both from WordTech editions and Kingdom of Heaven (2015), from Kelsay Books. All are available from Amazon or the author.
About the Poetry Group
Feel free to invite friends to join us. We are an intimate, informal group that enjoys sharing poetry with others in our surrounding communities. Hope to see you there!
The first half of the monthly meeting is devoted to a reading by a featured poet from the group or by a published poet. The second half hour allows open mike time for group members to share a few poems they've written, or they may choose to read poems written by their favorite poets. In the future, we may include poetry workshops to the group's activities. If you are interested in sharing a collection of poems, please email Lynn at email@example.com .
The meeting will be facilitated by Lynn Fanok, who has written a collection of poems about her experiences as a survivor’s daughter examining her family, memory, and history. Her poetry has appeared in Burnt Bridge and other journals. Lynn holds degrees in English from The Pennsylvania State University and Arcadia University. You'll find some of her poetry at lynnfanok.weebly.com.
All are invited and welcome to join us!
When: 2nd Thursday of each month
